Incentivize businesses to focus on going green
Re “We want to cut global warming in half starting on Earth Day” (Feb. 17): Thank you for publishing such an informative commentary on the super polluters within our society. I was happily informed about ways we can cut down hydrofluorocarbons, methane and black soot, as most articles do not offer a solution to the problems they describe.
It is important to continue to discuss climate change and ways in which we can bring our emissions down to zero by 2035. Extensive measures will be necessary to rein in these particular greenhouse gases; however, technology and cultural drive will evolve to meet these challenges. To rein in carbon dioxide, a carbon tax must be implemented to incentivize businesses to go green and eliminate emissions.
Revenues from this tax can be evenly distributed to the people to help individuals through the COVID-19 and housing crises. Overall, we must become united and considerate towards each other to establish cooperative solutions to these generational problems.
