Home demand is widely expected to continue to remain elevated as spring transitions to summer. In a new study from Audience Town, a real estate, moving and home-centric advertising platform, more than 11.7 million Americans are expected to relocate in the second quarter of 2021.

“People move because of life events, and the COVID-19 pandemic has been the single most significant life event many of us have ever lived through,” said Ed Carey,

CEO of Audience Town. “People are moving in huge numbers, and it’s going to be a massive year for residential real estate.”

People in their 30s are most likely to move over the next few months. Nearly one-third (32.8 percent) of those most likely to move are in California, Texas, New York and Florida.

Today, conforming no-point 30-year fixed mortgage rates are averaging 3.0 percent and 15-year rates are near 2.375 percent.
