SAN DIEGO, CA — On August 17, 2021, ‘Budd’ passed away at age 90. Born in Norfolk, VA, Budd attended Eastern High School, became a page on Capitol Hill, and attended Dartmouth College. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army. After the war, he worked for the Edison Foundation. Eventually, he found his way to Hollywood and into the film-making industry initially working on the movie The Loved One and later as associate producer on television sitcoms, including The Governor & JJ, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda, Phyllis, The Good Guys, The Sandy Duncan Show, The Bob Newhart Show, and Taxi.

He was a photographer for Architectural Digest for many years, played piano and sang in his church choir as well as in the San Diego Men’s Choir. Budd enjoyed sailing, reading and gardening. He was a gifted conversationalist; his interesting and ofttimes humorous stories will surely be missed.

Budd was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Anna Mildred (Hudson) Cherry, and his sister, Dorothy. He is survived by his brother-in-law Richard Martin of Coronado, Dorothy’s and Richard’s offspring who all live in the western states, and a great many cousins on the east coast.

His ashes will be scattered at sea.
