The suspected gunman in a fatal shooting outside a Grantville tavern last month was found and arrested in Ohio, San Diego police announced Wednesday.

Homicide Lt. Andra Brown identified the suspect as 32-yearold El Cajon resident Alvin Wilson. She said he was taken into custody by Ohio Highway Patrol nine days ago.

Wilson is accused in the death of Jason Twyman, who was shot in a parking lot off Mission Gorge Road north of Alvarado Canyon Road just after 1 a.m. Sept. 12. Brown said investigators do not think the two men knew each other, and found no evidence of prior history or dispute.

Investigators learned that a man in a dark shirt walked up to Twyman and opened fire. The gunman fled immediately after the shooting, headed west out of the parking lot in a dark colored vehicle.

Footage from OnScene TV shows Twyman lying next to a motorcycle in the area near JT’s Pub & Grill.

The 40-year-old La Mesa resident was gravely wounded. He died three days later, on Sept. 15.

On Sept. 27, the District Attorney’s Office charged Wilson with murder, with added gun and gang allegations, according to the criminal complaint.

That same day, Ohio authorities arrested Wilson on Interstate 80 in northern Ohio on unrelated charges, Brown said. She said he was stopped for an alleged traffic and then arrested on suspicion of weapons and marijuana possession.

Wilson remained jailed without bail in Ottawa County, Ohio, as of Wednesday afternoon. It was unclear when he would be brought back to San Diego County to face charges.
