CLEMSON WINS NCCA MEN’S SOCCER TITLE

Isaiah Reid scored twice, including a goal just 27 seconds into the match, and Clemson defeated Washington 2-0 to win the NCAA College Cup championsh­ip on Sunday at Cary, N.C.

It was Clemson’s third national championsh­ip. The Tigers also won in 1984 and 1987.

15th minute. A junior, Reid finished the season with nine goals, including a pair of two-goal games.

Washington struggled in the final third after the early Clemson goal put the Huskies on their heels. Clemson goalkeeper George Marks had a pair of saves, including one in the final minutes as Washington scrambled to score.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers beat the host Hamilton Tiger-Cats

33-25 in overtime to repeat as Canadian Football League’s Grey Cup champions. Winnipeg was the CFL’s top team during the shortened regular season, going 11-3. Hamilton was second in the East at 8-6.

Kylian Mbappe scored his 100th goal for Paris Saint-Germain, netting a brace as the French league leader beat Monaco 2-0. The France star, who scored twice midweek in the Champions League in a win against Club Brugge, gave PSG the lead from the penalty spot and doubled his tally just before halftime from Lionel Messi’s assist. At the age of 22 years and 357 days, Mbappe is the youngest player to score 100 goals for a single team in the French top flight, according to Opta’s analysis of statistics since 1950.

• A double from Conor Gallagher helped Crystal Palace return to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at home vs. Everton in the Premier League.

• Inter Milan gave an emphatic sign of intent as the defending Serie A champion moved to the top of Serie A with a crushing 4-0 victory over relegation-threatened Cagliari.

MLS

The LA Galaxy traded defender Daniel Steres (San Diego State) to the Houston Dynamo, continuing a roster makeover that began last winter under coach Greg Vanney. Steres, 31, who made his MLS debut in 2016, was one of the last links to coach Bruce Arena’s dynasty teams with the Galaxy.

Federica Brignone won a wind-swept World Cup super-G that saw pre-race favorite Lara Gut-Behrami crash out through the safety fences at St. Moritz, Switzerlan­d. Brignone was 0.11 faster than her Italian teammate Elena Curtoni down a fast course shortened to less than one minute. Mikaela Shiffrin extended her lead in the overall standings by placing third despite wearing the No. 2 bib.

• Clement Noel dominated the first slalom of the World Cup season at Val d’Isere, France, for his ninth career win as many other pre-race favorites faltered. Noel defied challengin­g course conditions on the Face de Bellevarde as he posted the fastest time in both runs, finishing 1.40 seconds ahead of Kristoffer Jakobsen for the Swedish skier’s first career podium.

The Anaheim Ducks announced the NHL club recalled goaltender Lukas Dostal from the San Diego Gulls. In addition, Anaheim reassigned center Benoit-Olivier Groulx to San Diego. The Gulls broke a three-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over Ontario on Saturday night at home.
