Peter Lewis Dean

February 13, 1939 - January 2, 2022

SAN DIEGO — Peter Lewis Dean was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and husband. Peter attended Oregon State where he met his first wife, Marcia Dean, and with whom he shared a daughter, the light of Peter’s life, Stephanie Ann. Peter joined the Navy and proudly served his country in Vietnam as a fighter pilot. After leaving the service he attended law school at the University of San Francisco, which began an illustrious 40 year career as a civil litigation attorney. It is in this venue which Peter met the love of his life, Marguerite Wagner. Peter and Marguerite were married in 1997 and they spent 22 precious years together: enjoying life and traveling the world.

Peter loved an adventure and was a man of many hobbies. He was an avid runner, golfer, and outdoorsman. He spent many days and nights exploring and backpacking through the Pacific Northwest with his brother Jimmy. Peter in retirement also served as a volunteer with the San Diego Sheriff ’s department. Some of the most precious items he leaves behind are short cards, poems, notes and emails that he wrote for friends and family throughout his lifetime.

Peter is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Marguerite, and his best friend and brother, James (Jimmy) Dean. He is survived by his brother John Spalding, his sister in law, Virginia (Dee Dee) Dean, daughter Stephanie Hemingway, nephews Greg and Michael Dean, step-daughters Holly Hernandez (Brian) and Melissa Bryan, grandchildren Kayla Richardson (John), Christopher Dean (Hope), Olivia Wray, Sadie Wray, Jake Hernandez, Sienna Hernandez, and great grandchildren Christian Richardson, Aubrey Dean, Conor Dean, Henry Richardson, and Theodore Richardson. His memorial is at Miramar National Cemetary, January 24th at 2:15 pm, procession Lane 2.
