O.B. fishing line idea is one smart solution

-

“Proposal for O.B. pier requests bins for discarded fishing lines” (April 13): Sarah Harron’s campaign to provide bins for discarded fishing lines on our pier is a great idea. It reminds me of the successful efforts many years ago to remove or redesign a certain brand of yogurt container because the narrow neck opening allowed skunks and other critters to get their heads trapped.

Plastic is the most prevalent kind of ocean pollution, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Keeping fishing lines out of our big, beautiful ocean seems like the right way to treat our coastal paradise.
