The American dream is guaranteed to no one
Re “Q&A with Tyler Geffeney, 52nd Congressional District candidate” (April 29): Tyler Geffeney’s Q&A with the U-T started off with him saying “The essence of the American dream is the promise for a better life for us.” He then proceeded to slam Democrats for everything except Fernando Tatis’ motorcycle-driving skills.
Far too many politicians build the American dream up to something that it can never be. There is no promise to the American dream. It is not a right. It is something we can all strive for — but, unfortunately, not all of us can or will achieve it.
