Jeff Nahill’s Kentucky Oaks handicap

-

1. (1) Secret Oath, 2. (13) Shahama, 3. (7) Echo Zulu, 4. (4) Nest. LONG SHOT: (2) Nostalgic.

SECRET OATH gets huge jockey switch to Luis Saez. She ran against the boys in the Arkansas Derby (finishing third) after a brutally wide trip. If she had run against the girls last time, she wouldn’t be 6-1 on the morning-line. SHAHAMA (15-1) is ridden by our old West Coast pal Flavien Prat. He has already proven to the Midwest and East Coasters that he’s the real deal. Tough post but in Prat we trust. ECHO ZULU (4-1) has done nothing wrong as her 5-for-5 record proves. She will be out front, but trainer Steve Asmussen hasn’t had the best luck in Kentucky the last six months (0 for 75). NEST (5-2) is the morning-line favorite and is trained by Todd Pletcher, who also trains SHAHAMA. NOSTALGIC (15-1) is from the Bill Mott barn and has the best closing kick in the race.
