Sure Fire Soul Ensemble CD release concert, with Mitchum Yacoub, Drug Hunt and Gonzo Light Show:

-

Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, San Diego’s Surefire Soul Ensemble specializes in crafting percolating grooves that defy audiences to keep from gyrating. Equally adept at vintage souljazz, Afro-Beat, New Orleans-styled funk and more, the nine-piece band is led by keyboardist Tim Felten and anchored by Jake Najor’s propulsive drumming. The brassy ensemble will celebrate the April 1 release of its fourth album, “Step Down,” with an all-ages, outdoor gig downtown that is likely to be as much of a dance marathon as a concert. 5 p.m. p.m. Saturday. The Quartyard, 1301 Market St., downtown. $22.72. quartardsd.com
