San Diego police sought help from the public Thursday to idena man suspected of following a woman last week onto the property of her College Area home and trying to open several of her doors.

According to police, the woman and her roommates were inside the home as the man lingered outside, peering through windows and trying to enter the home.

The incident occurred April 27 at a house on Mary Lane Drive, San Diego police Lt. Matthew Botkin said in a news release. The home is in a neighborhood west of College Boulevard and south of Montezuma Road and the San Diego State University campus.

After the woman locked herself inside the home with her roommates, the man lingered in the backyard for about 15 minutes, Botkin said.

Police did not give a description of the man, but images provided by the department appeared to show he was Black with a thin build, short hair and facial hair. He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt, baggy green pants and athletic shoes.

Last week’s incident occurred in the same neighborhood where police said a man in an apparently unrelated case has been spotted peering into the windows of homes at least six times since June 2020. Authorities asked for help in February to identify that man.

Anyone with information about the identity of the man from last week’s incident was asked to call San Diego police at (619) 531-2000 or County Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
