Border injuries affect all of our health care

-

“Border wall injuries could be avoided easily” (May 6): Readers seem to be missing the point. There are more jumpers and more intensive/severe injuries due to the height of the wall.

This causes more intensive care unit beds being utilized for longer periods of time, extended rehab time, which in turn reduces the beds and increases medical staff needed on a daily basis.

There are not enough border agents to accompany the injured to the hospital so they are not under arrest, therefore the government is not liable for their outstanding bills.

The hospitals are losing millions of dollars after they are released. This affects all of our health care.
