SAN DIEGO, CA — On April 10th, 2022 Linda passed away due to complications of a stroke. She is survived by her husband Gerald Gamliel and her son Darby Wesley. Also surviving is her brother Allan Phinney, her stepmother Colleen Phinney, and her nieces and nephews Shannon, Corrine, Brian, and Jason.

Linda was born in 1954 to Jim and Ruth Phinney. Throughout her life she fought and won many battles with grace, including breast cancer in the last years of her life. Her courage, fortitude, and humility in the face of life’s obstacles were an inspiration to all of us who knew her.

Linda was a faithful Methodist and a proud member of Normal Heights United Methodist Church. She had a lifelong passion for charity work, and always concerned herself with the needs of the vulnerable. She was also an artist that expressed herself through illustration and painting.

Linda had a soul that was as tender as it was strong. She was loved for her kindness, her generosity, and, above all, for her sense of humor. We will all miss her playful wit and contagious laugh. We will miss her defiant spunk and brazen honesty. But most of all, we will miss her love, which she gave away freely and unconditionally, as if it came from a well with no bottom. Now that she is at peace, returned home to her creator and reunited with her loved ones that have passed, she will live on in the memories of those of us who miss her dearly, and are so grateful to have known her as a mother, wife, sister, and friend.
