Glad to see bullet train called out as wasteful
Re “It’s long been clear bullet train wouldn’t reach San Diego. Now L.A. is in doubt as well.” (May 8): The San Diego Union-Tribune Editorial Board’s take on the bullet train was an echo of the concerns I have had about this project for quite some time. It also was the nudge I needed to voice those to the governor, expressly asking him to shelve this project.
As I stated in my letter to
him, going from $33 billion to a projected $105 billion for this project is entirely unreasonable and can’t be argued as carrying out the will of the voters when we cast our ballots 14 years ago, especially at a time when Californians are struggling to meet their basic family needs.
Thank you for shedding more light on this futile and wasteful endeavor. It also was the nudge I needed to renew our U-T subscription. June Dudas
