A 30-year-old man was arrested this week on suspicion of fatally stabbing another man about two years ago in Chula Vista, police said.

Raymond Lynde was taken into custody Wednesday at the San Ysidro Port of Entry by members of the San Diego Regional Task Force, Chula Vista police Sgt. Anthony Molina said.

Lynde is suspected of killing 23year-old Ariel Burquez on July 18, 2020, outside an apartment complex on Rancho Drive near Regency Court.

The two men were in an argument when Lynde reportedly pulled a knife and stabbed Burquez numerous times, police said then. Burquez died before he could be taken to a hospital.

Lynde, who was gone when officers arrived, was believed to be hiding out in Mexico, according to police.

On Wednesday afternoon, Lynde was booked into jail on suspicion of murder and violating his parole. He’s set to be arraigned today in Chula Vista Superior Court.
