Crews stop spread of fire in Granite Hills at about five acres

Fire erupted in the hills south of Interstate 8 near El Cajon Friday afternoon, and crews stopped the spread, an official said.

The fire was first reported around noon at the end of Lotus Lane, off La Cresta Road, in the Granite Hills community, Cal Fire Capt. Neil Czapinski said.

The fire reached about five acres. Firefighters stopped it from growing, he said.

Czapinski said no injuries were reported.

Crews are expected to remain at the site to douse hot spots.
