El Cajon should take advantage of offer

“County sweetens deal, offers services to cities that open homeless shelters” (May 9): Good news that the county will be considering a proposal at its board meeting May 24 to provide grants to cities in the county to establish shelters for the homeless in their jurisdictions.

I hope El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells and City Council members will apply for these funds to set up a shelter in El Cajon. I’m sure many of us in El Cajon would like to see more of the

homeless off the street and into a shelter.
