It should be easier to offer refugees help
I have just attempted to complete the Department of Homeland Security form to sponsor a Ukrainian refugee family. This form is ridiculous. It assumes I know the name of, and all sorts of personal information about, some refugee. I don’t. I am just a good and decent American who is happy to open up my home to a refugee.
There are now more than 5.6 million of them. President Biden says we’ll take a very paltry 100,000 into the U.S., but now has instituted a process that will make it difficult for anything more than a handful to make it here. And this form asks for all sorts of personal financial information that I don’t feel comfortable sending out into the internet. Barbara Lytle
