San Diego police on Sunday released the name of a 31year-old woman who was shot and killed in a carport in Lincoln Park after she and her son came upon a fight between the boy’s father and at least two other men early Saturday morning.

Sengny Chea, 31, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body just before 2:20 a.m. at a complex on Willie James Jones Avenue, north of Imperial Avenue, San Diego police Lt. Adam Sharki said. Chea, a San Diego resident, died before she could be taken to a hospital.

Sharki said police are still investigating the incident, but it appears that Chea and her son came upon a fight in a carport between the boy’s father and three men.

Police said the boy suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg. The boy’s 32-year-old father was found with contusions and other injuries to his face and body.

Police arrested Alex Galvan, 22, on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and possession of an unregistered firearm in connection with the shooting, Sharki said. He had been shot in the wrist, police said.

The gun believed to be used in the shooting was recovered.

Officers also arrested Abraham Galvan, 24, on suspicion of violating probation, possession of an assault weapon and assault with force.

Police are still searching for a third man believed to have either been involved in the shooting or who witnessed the violence. He was last seen running from the location and was described as being in his late 20s or early 30s, police said.

The boy underwent surgery and was expected to survive. His father was also being treated in a hospital, police said.
