Ignoring subpoenas looks like admission

-

Re “Jan. 6 panel subpoenas McCarthy, four other GOP lawmakers” (May 12): To me, it’s an admission of guilt to not show up for a

subpoena or to produce records that the subpoena requests.

I get that there may be legal challenges to the legality of a certain type of subpoena, but if you have nothing to hide, why not show up and cooperate? Of course there is the long-run game of hoping the party majority may change in Congress, rending, perhaps, the subpoena party being dismantled. But again, isn’t that some sort of admission of guilt to not show up for your interview?
