Elect those who believe women have rights

Re “Divisions deepen as women defy veil rule” (May 9): Women are losing their rights around the world: a burqa decree in Kabul, the potential overturn of Roe v. Wade in the U.S., repressing women from having more than two children in China, the possibility of banning contraception in Mississippi. How many more ways can countries around the

world demoralize women?

It is time to elect politicians who will be supportive of women’s real needs such as guaranteeing health care and other gender issues. Although many believe women have come a long way, they have many more mountains to climb.
