Fire crews rescued three men stuck at the top of the 30-foot-high wall along the U.S.-Mexico border Monday morning.

Just after 7:30 a.m., U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials called fire crews for help rescuing three people on the wall, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department officials said.

Cal Fire Capt. Brett Bruno told OnScene TV that no one was injured in Monday’s incident, but such rescues are “becoming very frequent lately.”

“It’s a very common rescue that we have down here in Otay.” he said.

There’s been a spike in deaths and injuries in falls from the wall locally since its height was increased.

The Union-Tribune reported last month that the two local trauma centers that receive the most patients stemming from incidents involving the border wall had seen that number increase fivefold since 2019, after the higher wall went up, compared with the previous three years.
