Mookie Betts homered twice on a night he was originally supposed to have off, and Los Angeles beat host Washington. Betts smacked a three-run homer off former Dodgers prospect Josiah Gray and hit solo shot off Victor Arano for his 21st career multi-homer game and his second of the season.

Rockies 2, Pittsburgh 1 (10): Connor Joe singled home the tiebreakin­g run in the top of the 10th inning and Colorado slipped past host Pittsburgh. With one out, Joe grounded his hit up the middle off David Bednar (1-1), scoring automatic runner Sam Hilliard from second base.

Cubs 11, Reds 4: Frank Schwindel homered twice in a game for the first time in his career, Marcus Stroman recovered from a rough start to pitch five effective innings, and visiting Chicago rolled past Cincinnati.

Braves 6, Phillies 5: William Contreras singled home Ronald Acuña Jr. in the bottom of the ninth inning to give host Atlanta a victory over Philadelph­ia.

(IL) Blue Jays 8, Cardinals 1: Danny Jansen hit a three-run homer and a solo shot, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also went deep and visiting Toronto beat St. Louis.

(IL) Diamondbac­ks 8, Royals 6: Pavin Smith and pinch-hitter Jordan Luplow homered in a five-run sixth inning to help host Arizona beat Kansas City.

Mets at Giants: Late

Mets 13, Giants 3: Pete Alonso hit an early three-run homer moments after Francisco Lindor’s tying, two-run double, and New York kept slugging all game long to rout host San Francisco.

(IL) Diamondbac­ks 9, Royals 5: Christian Walker and Pavin Smith homered and Ketel Marte’s two-run double broke a fourthinni­ng tie when Arizona beat Kansas City in Zack Greinke’s return to Chase Field. Royals right-hander Greinke (0-3) gave up seven earned runs, two homers and four walks, all single-game highs this season.
