Art in the Village will return Sunday for its 24th year of celebratin­g all kinds of art in an open-air show with more than 100 local and regional artists. Meet the artists in their booths, including this year’s featured artist ambassador, Larisa Lewis, who was born and raised in Ukraine. Oils, watercolor­s, mixed media, digital, photograph­y, glasswork, woodworkin­g, jewelry, pottery and more will be on display and for sale. The day will also feature live sculpting, chalk art, painting and glass-making demos; a free art-making booth for children; live local music on the Grand Avenue stage; and new this year, a food, wine and beer garden. Oceanside Independen­ce Parade: The theme is “Oceanside Strong: Honoring Hometown Heroes” for this pre-July Fourth parade that steps off Saturday. Main Street Oceanside holds the parade before Independen­ce Day, which means more bands, floats, performers and others are able to participat­e. This year’s event will pay tribute to the essential workers who have kept things going during the COVID-19 pandemic. Bring folding chairs and view the parade from the sidewalks along the route, which heads north and ends just past City Hall on Civic Center Drive.

Makers Arcade Summer Fair: Get your craft fix this weekend at the Broadway Pier in San Diego. The event will host more than 100 local makers selling handmade goods, plus make-and-take stations, photo booths, live music, craft cocktails, gourmet food trucks and more. TGIF Concerts in the Parks: Carlsbad tunes up for its TGIF summer concert series starting today at Stagecoach Park. TGIF marks its 35th anniversar­y this season with music from years past. The Back Pocket Whiskey Fellas & Bayou Brothers kick off the opener with their blend of Irish folk and country rock. Poway 2022 Summer Concerts: The City in the Country opens this concert series on Sunday with Betamaxx and its ’80s music. The series continues on Sundays (except July 4) through Aug. 14 either at Lake Poway or Old Poway Park. Get there early with your blanket or chair to snag a spot in front of the stage.
