UCSD, Scripps, Sharp hospitals earn rankings
Three local hospitals earned national rankings in the “Best Hospitals” report published Tuesday by U.S. News and World Report.
UC San Diego had the best showing, with 10 different specialties ranked among the top 50 nationwide in the annual analysis that examined performance among more than 4,500 hospitals in the United States.
It’s the same number that UCSD’s two hospitals in La Jolla and Hillcrest earned in last year’s report. Scripps Health’s two La Jolla-area hospitals — Memorial and Green — earned five national specialty rankings, one fewer than last year. Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego saw its nationally ranked specialty total increase from one to two.
No local hospital made the report’s honor roll, a list of the top 20 facilities across the nation, which was led this year by Mayo Clinic based in Minnesota.
