Flyers 5, Avalanche 3: Tony DeAngelo and Owen Tippett scored on the power play, and host Philadelph­ia held on to beat Colorado. Tanner Laczynski, Travis Sanheim and Travis Konecny also scored for the Flyers, who won for just the second time in 14 games (2-9-3). Carter Hart finished with 29 saves.

Rangers 6, Blues 4: K’Andre Miller, Alexis Lafreniere and Chris Kreider scored in the third period as New York rallied to beat St. Louis Blues at home. Vincent Trochek had a goal and an assist, and Braden Schneider and Adam Fox also scored for the Rangers, who won for the second time in seven games (2-4-1) and snapped a four-game skid (0-3-1) at home. Artemi Panarin had two assists, Lafreniere added one, and Igor Shesterkin made 25 saves.

Golden Knights 4, Bruins 3 (SO): Vegas made former Boston coach Bruce Cassidy’s return a success on Reilly Smith’s score in the fifth round of the shootout, beating the Bruins to end their NHL record for home victories to open a season at 14 games.

Capitals 3, Oilers 2: Nic Dowd scored the tiebreakin­g goal in the third period and visiting Washington beat Edmonton to snap a two-game skid. Lars Eller and T.J. Oshie also scored for the Capitals, who are 2-5-3 in their last 10 road games. Charlie Lindgren made 28 saves.

Flames 3, Coyotes 2: Nazem Kadri scored a power play goal at 15:42 of the third period to lift host Calgary over Arizona.

Canucks 7, Canadiens 6 (OT): Elias Pettersson scored 13 seconds into overtime to give host Vancouver a wild win over Montreal.
