Capitals 4, Red Wings 3 (OT): Nic Dowd scored twice in 11 seconds, Dmitry Orlov had the overtime winner and host Washington won its second in a row by beating Detroit.

Bruins 7, Panthers 3: Patrice Bergeron scored a pair of thirdperio­d goals after Boston almost blew a 4-0 lead and the Bruins beat Florida for its 17th home victory in 19 tries.

Predators 4, Oilers 3 (OT): Alexandre Carrier scored at 2:12 of overtime to give host Nashville a victory over Edmonton.

Avalanche 1, Islanders 0 (SO): Evan Rodrigues beat goalie Ilya Sorokin for the only goal of a shootout for host Colorado.

Sabres 3, Golden Knights 2: Lawrence Pilut had a goal and an assist to help Buffalo build a 3-0 advantage in the second period, and the Sabres held on for a win at Vegas.

Canadiens 3, Coyotes 2 (OT): Mike Hoffman scored 1:08 into overtime and Montreal beat host Arizona.

Blues 5, Canucks 1: Jordan Kyrou had a hat trick and an assist to power visiting St. Louis past Vancouver. Robert Thomas had a power-play goal and an assist while Vladimir Tarasenko contribute­d three assists for the Blues.

Flames 5, Sharks 2: Elias Lindholm scored two goals 19 seconds apart in the first minute of the third period, and Calgary beat host San Jose.

The Maple Leafs acquired Dryden Hunt from the Avalanche for fellow forward Denis Malgin on Monday.

• The Oilers signed goaltender Stuart Skinner to a three-year, $7.8 million contract extension.

• Sharks forward Tomas Hertl has been suspended two games for a high-stick penalty against Calgary’s Elias Lindholm. Hertl will miss two games without pay for his first suspension of his 10-year career.

• Flyers forward Cam Atkinson will have neck surgery Wednesday and miss the entire season, another setback for one of the worst teams in the NHL.
