PALOMAR COLLEGE OFFERS FREE BLACK HISTORY EVENTS
Palomar College is hosting a series of free February workshops exploring the history and creativity of Black History Month.
The mostly-virtual series is open to the public and will conclude with a barbecue and fundraiser at Mesa Rim Climbing Center in San Marcos. Proceeds will benefit the Palomar Black Faculty and Staff Association, which is hosting the events, and Umoja, a campus group that supports Black students, staff and faculty.
“It’s a way to expose everyone, regardless of race, to the history of Black America that has led us to today — and to issues happening right now,” said Amber Colbert, assistant professor of sociology and founder of the association, in a statement. “It’s America’s history, it’s Black history, and I’m glad that Palomar and the PBFSA are able to provide these workshops.”
