LJCD DUO TO REPRESENT U.S. IN NIKE HOOP SUMMIT

Already named to play for the West in the McDonald’s All-American Game in March, La Jolla Country Day’s dynamic duo of Breya Cunningham and Jada Williams have been tabbed to represent the United States in the inaugural women’s Nike Hoop Summit.

Cunningham and Williams are part of a 13member U19 USA Team that will play a team of top internatio­nal players.

The USA Nike Summit Hoops Teams were selected by the USA Basketball

Men’s and Women’s Developmen­t National team Committees.

The World Team rosters will be announced at a later date and will draw players from Africa, The Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

The women’s game will take place April 8 at the Moda Center in Portland,

Ore.

Williams and Cunningham will also play in the March 28 McDonald’s AllAmerica­n Game in Houston.

Team USA for the Nike Summit includes JuJu Watkins of Chatsworth Sierra Canyon High School, K.K. Arnold and Madison Booker of Germantown High School in Wisconsin and Jadyn Donovan of Sidwell Friends in Washington, D.C.

Williams, Cunningham and Watkins were members of the 2021 U16 USA National Team that won gold at the FIBA Americas Championsh­ips in Leon,

Mexico.

Williams and Cunningham were also on the 2022 U18 National team that took gold in the Americas Championsh­ips in Buenos Aires.

Every member of the U19 Team is headed to college: Watkins to USC, Williams and Cunningham to Arizona, Arnold and Ashlynn Shade of La Lumiere in Indiana to UConn and Mikaylah Williams from Parkway High School in Louisiana and Aalyah Del Rosario from the Webb School in Tennessee are headed to LSU.
