OCEANSIDE — William “Bill” Walter Doyle, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2023. Bill is preceded in death by his daughter, Jackie Doyle. He leaves behind a son, Ian Doyle; beloved granddaughter Madison Doyle; daughterin-law Krizia Doyle; and dear sister Suzanne Lawser. He also leaves behind his long-time girlfriend Lee Curtis, as well as the rest of the Curtis family and friends.

Born April 3, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA, Bill was the son of William Sr. and Dorris Doyle. Bill grew up in Springfield, PA, with his youth consisting of playing the piano and organ, being a member of the Boy Scouts, summers in Virginia Beach to visit family, and skiing during the winters. He attended the Philadelphia Musical Academy as an organ major and was assistant organist at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. In 1968, he served in the Army and was honorably discharged a few years later. Afterwards, he made his way to California where he lived the rest of his life, with stops in Marina del Rey, Westchester, and Oceanside.

Bill was always involved in his children’s activities, whether it was his daughter’s Girl Scouts or gymnastics, or his son’s baseball games or band competitions, he would always make the time and effort to be there, front and center.

Bill enjoyed being out and about as much as possible - a true extrovert. Along with that, he was a natural conversationalist and could talk with you about anything for as long as you had the time. He loved getting to know new people and making sure everybody felt included and heard.

Bill and Lee spent the last 12 years finding ways to enjoy the finer things in life. They made each other better people and continued to fall more in love with each passing year. From their travel adventures abroad, to their nights out around town, they made a lasting impression on everybody they met due to their brilliant, infectious spirits.

Always ready to help in times of need and party in times of celebration, we could all learn by Bill’s genuine work ethic and lifestyle.

The Funeral Mass Service is on Thursday, March 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside.
