Sea Lions update: Coach Matt Logie’s team won the PacWest Tournament last weekend with an 80-69 win over Azusa Pacific in the title game after going 20-0 in conference play during the regular season. PLNU defeated Northwest Nazarene 69-54 in the Nov. 15 home opener. NNU won the GNAC Tournament title as the sixth seed. PLNU fifth-year senior F Kaden Anderson is a three-time PacWest Player of the Year. Sophomore forward Luke Haupt (St. Augustine) suffered an injury in the PacWest title game and his status is undisclose­d.

Cougars update: Coach B.J. Foster’s squad opened the season with four losses but rebounded to go 17-5 in the CCAA with the highlight being a win at CCAA champ and No. 2 seed Cal State San Bernardino on Jan. 5. The Cougars are in the West Regional for the second straight season. Key players include senior guard Greg Milton III (17.6 ppg), sophomore guard Quinn Denker (13.8 ppg), senior forward Joel Mensah (12.4 ppg, 7.7 rebounds) and junior guard Jayce McCain (9.1 ppg, 3.9 assists, 40.9 3-point percentage.)

Up next: The Cal State San Marcos-APU winner plays the winner of Cal State San Bernardino’s game against Montana StateBilli­ngs, while the PLNU-Northwest Nazarene winner takes on either St. Martin’s or Academy of Art. Saturday’s semifinals are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with the final taking place Monday at 7 p.m.
