Knocking down a 4-foot birdie putt on the fourth extra hole, the Dons sophomore captured the section championship over teammate Michael Riebe after shooting a 1-over 144 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

Rancho Bernardo | Gymnastics Scoring 36.050 points, the Bronco captured the section optional all-around title. Takeda had the top marks in the floor exercise at 9.500 as well as the bars at 8.850, winning the Gymnast of the Year award.

Scripps Ranch | Girls track Soaring over the bar without even nudging it at 5-9 and barely clipping it on her last try at 5-10, the state leader in the high jump captured the section championship in qualifying for the state meet in Clovis.
Jason Wells La Costa Canyon | Boys track
The senior posted the top mark in the 100-meter dash this season at 10.49 seconds and then came back to win the 200-meter event in 21.51 seconds, sweeping the sprints at the section championships.

La Costa Canyon | Girls track Although she was well under her season best of 14 feet, the leading mark in the state, the junior still was the only pole vaulter to clear 13-3 to qualify for the state championships at Buchanan High in Clovis.

Collecting 85 assists, 17 kills and 10 blocked shots in three playoff victories, the senior led the Titans past Eastlake 25-23, 25-17, 22-25, 25-14 to capture the Southern California Division III championship.

Facing just 18 batters in six innings, the Coppin State-bound senior pitched a perfect game, leading the Wildcats to a run-rule-shortened 10-0 victory over San Pasqual. She struck out four in just 58 pitches.
