SAN DIEGO — Rose Lee (McDaniel) Weekley, a devoted mother of nine children, peacefully passed away on July 12, 2023. She was predecease­d by her beloved husband, John “Jack” Weekley, and their daughters Catherine “Cathy” Weekley and Sarah “Sally” Weekley. Rose Lee will be remembered as a cherished wife, mother, and devout Christian woman.

Rose Lee, daughter of Charles McDaniel and Dessie Shaffer, met her future husband, Jack, through his sister Betty while enrolled in the RN program. Their connection blossomed, leading to marriage and a beautiful family.

Rose Lee served as an exemplary role model to her children, demonstrat­ing dedication and care in all aspects of their lives. Despite raising a large family, she managed to maintain an impressive level of commitment. Rose Lee found joy in gardening, puzzles, and being with her family.

Beyond her role as a dedicated wife and mother, Rose Lee touched the lives of many others with her selflessne­ss and caring nature. She had a deep empathy for those in need and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Rose Lee’s acts of kindness and compassion exemplifie­d her commitment to the teachings of her faith.

Rose Lee leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion. She will be deeply missed by her surviving children Bruce, John (wife Rhonda), Barbara Kennard (husband Ken), Zona, Mary “Elena” Oatey (husband John), David (wife Alesandra), and Paul (wife Tracy), as well as her grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, and extended family and friends.

A closed funeral service to honor Rose Lee’s life will be held at Greenwood Mortuary. Donations to the San Diego Rescue Mission in honor of Rose Lee’s charitable spirit are appreciate­d in lieu of flowers.
