Through Oct. 31 TEMECULA Pumpkin Fest
The autumn season is in full swing with the traditional Pumpkin Festival at Peltzer Farms in Temecula, featuring huge pumpkins, pig races, a petting zoo and mini-train rides. Visitors can stop by an openair market and buy gourds as large as 100 pounds; corn, squash and other vegetables will also be available to purchase. Entrance fees are $2 on weekdays and $3 on weekends, though children under 2 years old are admitted free. Additional charges apply for some attractions. Oct. 7 TEMECULA History Day
Celebrate the legends and pioneers of Temecula at the inaugural Temecula History Day event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Sam Hicks Monument Park, 41970 Moreno Road. Oct. 7 LAKE ELSINORE Waste collection
The city of Lake Elsinore will hold its next household hazardous waste drop-off event for city residents from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at 512 N. Langstaff St., next to the Public Works Yard. Items accepted include automotive chemicals, batteries, electronics, household chemicals and cleaners and paint. Oct. 9 MURRIETA Dog Tales
The Murrieta Public Library holds its Dog Tales program at 4:30 p.m. Mondays, except holidays. The program, in partnership with Love on a Leash, provides trained reading-education assistance dogs for children ages 3 to 12 to read to. The library is at 8 Town Square.

The city of Lake Elsinore will hold its annual Trunk or Treat spooktacular on historic Main Street from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 14. The whole street will be transformed into a Halloween extravaganza, with over 60 decorated trunks waiting to delight visitors with tricks and treats. The event is free and open to the public. This free bike ride for families will feature spooktacular decorations around the neighborhood. All participants must be confident bike riders and stay with the group on this guided tour. Donations of blood and plasma are needed for patients throughout the region. LifeStream hosts mobile blood drives at various locations as well as collections at its regular locations.
