-

In her second pro meet since relinquishing her spot on the Stanford swim team, Katie Ledecky continued to dominate at the TYR Pro Swim Series meet in Santa Clara.

After winning the 200-meter freestyle with the world’s fastest time of the year on Friday night, the five-time Olympic gold medalist returned Saturday and won the first event contested, the 800 free, in 8:11.08. The 21-year-old Washington, D.C., native holds the world record in the event (8:04.79, set in 2016).

Stanford’s Megan Byrnes took third in that race, two spots ahead of Cardinal teammate Leah Stevens. Former Stanford swimmers Simone Manuel and Lia Neal went 1-2 in the women’s 100 free. Two-time Olympic champ Manuel owns the American record in the event.

Chase Kalisz won the men’s 200 butterfly and 200 individual medley, besting 12-time Olympic champion Ryan Lochte in the latter.

Lilly King, the world recordholder in the 100 breaststroke, cruised to a nearly 3-second victory in that event.

Florida’s Caeleb Dressel, who tied Michael Phelps’ record with seven gold medals at last year’s world championships, topped the men’s 100 free in 48.96 seconds.
