Somalia attack: Four U.S. service members who were wounded in an extremist attack that killed one special operations soldier have been treated and discharged, the U.S. military said Saturday. A U.S. Africa Command statement said the four were in the care of the U.S. Embassy medical team in neighboring Kenya. Staff Sgt. Alexander Conrad, 26, of Chandler, Ariz., died from injuries sustained Friday from what the Pentagon called enemy indirect fire in the attack in Jubaland about 215 miles southwest of the capital of Mogadishu. The al Qaeda-linked al-Shabab extremist group, which is based in Somalia and controls parts of the country’s rural south and central regions, claimed responsibility.

Vatican indictment: A Vatican court has indicted a diplomat recalled from Washington last year on child pornography possession charges amid ongoing investigations in three jurisdictions. The Vatican said in a statement Saturday that Monsignor Carlo Capella, who was the No. 4 official in its Washington embassy, would face trial June 22. The Vatican recalled Capella after the U.S. State Department notified it in August of a “possible violation of laws relating to child pornography images” by a diplomat in Washington. Canadian police have said Capella allegedly uploaded child porn from a social networking site.

Russia relations: The Kremlin said Saturday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Trump have mentioned Vienna as a possible venue for a summit, but no decision has been made. Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin and Trump discussed the prospects for their meeting in a March phone call and talked about locations, with Vienna as a possibility. Speaking in Qingdao in China, where Putin is attending a regional summit, Peskov noted that “there have been no concrete agreements or understandings, and no specific discussions are being conducted now.”

Potent storm: A powerful storm has damaged dozens of houses and a hospital along Montenegro’s Adriatic Sea coast, authorities said. The storm that engulfed the Boka Kotorska bay area early Saturday swept away part of a hospital’s roof and blew out many of its windows. About 50 houses and buildings have been damaged in all. The heavy wind also turned over cars, brought down trees and damaged two small planes at a local airport. Some areas lost electricity service. To the north in Slovenia, Prime Minister Miro Cerar on Saturday toured a southeastern region where apple-size hail damaged roofs, crops and cars late Friday.

Queen’s birthday: Prince Harry and his new wife, the former actress Meghan Markle, joined the pageantry of the annual Trooping the Color ceremony Saturday in London to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s official birthday. The duke and duchess, who married three weeks ago, made the short trip from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade in a horse-drawn carriage as royal fans lining the Mall cheered and waved. The couple later joined other members of the royal family on the palace’s front balcony to watch the Royal Air Force fly by. As the aerobatic display team, the Red Arrows, released plumes of red, white and blue smoke over the balcony of Buckingham Palace, the queen’s great-grandchildren waved wildly. The 92-year-old queen, whose real birthday is April 21, seemed vigorous as she observed the event. The monarch, who recently had a successful cataract operation, watched the ceremony from a dais and inspected the guardsmen.
