Thomas Francis Burke

Thomas Francis Burke passed away on June 11, 2018 at home in his native San Francisco. Thom attended and graduated from St. Cecilia Grammar School, Sacred Heart High School and San Francisco State University.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Gallagher Burke and Thomas Francis Burke and by his brother, Ron Burke.

He is greatly loved and survived by his sister, JoAnn Burke, his nieces Ana Burke and Stacia Ibrahim and many Gallagher and Duterte cousins.

Thom worked for the City and County of San Francisco before taking early retirement. He lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for many years before returning to San Francisco. He leaves friends in San Francisco, New Mexico and around the world. He loved family and friends and good conversation as well as books (especially book sales), food, dogs and babies. He was a folk art enthusiast and collector.

Thom was a kind and generous man, always quick with a smile and compliment. His sense of humor and fun spirit will be sorely missed.

A Memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia Church, 2555 17th Ave., San Francisco, in Our Lady’s Chapel on June 30, 2018 at 11am. Luncheon will follow.
