William “Bill” H. McDonald passed away peacefully in San Mateo at the age of 75 years on June 9, 2017. Bill was dearly loved by his family and friends for his kindness, compassion, love, humor, forgivenes­s and strength. Bill was born in San Francisco, the son of Julius (Mac) McDonald and Margaret Carmichael McDonald. Bill leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Janet Brown McDonald, daughters, Sandra, Sheryl, and son Steven, by a previous marriage, grandson RJ, Brother John and Sister Pat.

Bill grew up in Millbrae where he attended Green Hills School, Capuchino High School and attended the College of San Mateo. He then decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Carmichael and McDonald family plumbing business in San Francisco. The company was establishe­d by his grandfathe­r in the 1930’s. Bill worked hard to learn the plumbing trade and became a trusted partner to his father. He took over managing the business when his father retired and the company was highly successful under his leadership. Bill was an active member of the PHCC for many years and was always respected for his integrity, kindness and generosity.

A celebratio­n of life memorial service will be held in Bill’s honor on Saturday, June 30 at 1:00 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of St. Matthew, One South El Camino Real @ Baldwin, San Mateo, CA 94401.
