Robert Keeling Spotswood, Jr. died in a tragic accident on Saturday, June 9, 2018. He was engaged to be married to Olivia Gwinn Hellman, daughter of Mick and Sabrina Hellman, and granddaughter of the late Warren and Chris Hellman, all of San Francisco, and of the late Ronald and Bernadine Harryman of Los Angeles. Robert was a remarkable young man whose love of life was an inspiration. He loved Olivia, his family, and his friends with unbounded passion and empathy. He was a connector who found great joy in bringing people together for both business and pleasure and, after losing a leg in an auto accident at the age of 16, dedicated much of his life to improving the lives of people with disabilities. Robert greatly enjoyed music, sports, and the great outdoors. He was an expert fly fisherman, a tennis player, and a competent golfer. He lived his short life to the fullest, and will never be forgotten. Robert was born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 26, 1982. He graduated from the University of Virginia and St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Ashley Spotswood, his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Hayward and Kyle Eudailey, and their children Edith Hayward and William Ashton, all of Birmingham, and his grandmother, Edith Hayward Wiltshire, of Pensacola, Florida, as well as many beloved cousins, aunts and uncles.
