Hoesen’s 10th goal gives Quakes tie at Salt Lake

Danny Hoesen scored on a rebound in the 64th minute to give the visiting Earthquake­s a 1-1 tie with Real Salt Lake in a Major League Soccer match Saturday night.

Hoesen’s goal was his 10th of the season. None of his San Jose teammates has scored more than four.

Quakes goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell matched his career best with seven saves.

Damir Kreilach scored in the 54th minute for Salt Lake, which saw a six-match home winning streak end.

The Quakes (2-9-5), winless in their past seven including three draws, will host the LA Galaxy on Saturday night at Stanford.

 The Colorado Rapids leapfrogge­d San Jose in the Western Conference standings, dropping the Quakes into last place, with a 3-2 win over visiting Minnesota.

 Clint Dempsey scored his first goal of the season to help the Seattle Sounders tie the visiting Chicago Fire 1-1.

 Bradley Wright-Phillips scored his 11th goal of the season as the New York Red Bulls beat visiting FC Dallas 3-0, playing a man down for the final 60-plus minutes.

 Ignacio Piatti scored his third goal in two games to help Montreal win 2-0 at Orlando City. Tennis: Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer advanced to the finals of Wimbledon tuneup tournament­s. Djokovic beat Jeremy Chardy 7-6 (5), 6-4 at Queen’s Club in London, setting up a meeting with Marin Cilic, who edged Nick Kyrgios 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4). In Halle, Germany, Federer will play 21-year-old Borna Coric in the Gerry Weber Open final after beating qualifier Denis Kudla 7-6 (1), 7-5. Coric advanced when fourth-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut retired injured after slipping.

Motor sports: Justin Haley, 19, won NASCAR’s Truck Series race in Madison, Ill., for his first career victory, pulling away on a wild last restart.

 Defending IndyCar series champion Josef Newgarden won the pole for Sunday’s race at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.

 Lewis Hamilton won his record-extending 75th career pole at Formula One’s French Grand Prix near Marseille.
