Valeria Di Regolo
Valeria Di Regolo, age 97, died peacefully in her home on June 18, 2018.
Valeria was born in Quiesa, province of Lucca, Italy on June 17, 1921. When she was 3, she immigrated with her parents Giulia and Cesare Guisti and the family settled on Potrero Hill in San Francisco, and later moved to the Mission District. She graduated from Mission High School and married Carlo Di Regolo in 1944. They had a happy marriage and raised their children, Jerry and Nancy, in a three generation home. Valeria cared for Nancy, who had profound disabilities, until her death at age 13. Valeria managed the office of Michael Perry Real Estate until the family relocated to Hayward, near Carlo’s business, Terracon.
Valeria always had her hair done, wore stockings, and dressed perfectly. She loved entertaining family and her many lifelong friends. Crab pasta was her signature dish. She owned several red sporty cars and enjoyed traveling to Italy, Hawaii and Lake Tahoe. She was a giving wife, mother and grandmother who made the most of life’s challenges.
She is survived by her son, Jerold Di Regolo, Ph.D., his wife Betty Di Regolo, brother Don Giusti and grandchildren Daniel and Marianna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARC of Alameda County, 14700 Dolittle Dr., San Leandro, CA 94577 or Saint Anthony’s Foundation, 150 Golden Gate Ave., SF, CA 94102.
