Taste of Napa showcases South America, East Coast flavors

- By Carey Sweet

A taste of Tuscany comes to Taste of Napa this year, held July 21 at the brand new, Italiandesign Vista Collina Resort in south Napa. But in a global twist, a particular highlight of the food and wine gathering showcases South America and the East Coast.

That’s because, in a very special performance for the 2018 Taste, world-renowned harpist and violinist Carlos Reyes will take the stage alongside Santana lead singer Tony Lindsay. Reyes was born in Paraguay, while Lindsay hails from New York. Both talents now live in the San Francisco area.

Taste of Napa already is one of the most popular events for the annual Festival Napa Valley, and the showstopper musical performance makes the day even more of a draw, noted the festival’s chief operating officer Sonia Tolbert.

“Taste of Napa has become a signature Festival Napa Valley event,” Tolbert said. “In addition to the array of gourmet food and wine selections, this year’s Taste of Napa is extraordinarily special with the performance of world renowned Carlos Reyes and the legendary Tony Lindsey. There is no better way to spend time on a summer Saturday in July.”

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., guests can stroll the resort grounds, through a culinary Village and across a 16,000square-foot sprawling event lawn. Offerings sips from some 70 wineries, bites from more than a dozen restaurants and food artisans, plus a beer garden, the event also features an appearance by Bravo Top Chef and Food Rush TV host Ryan Scott, who will be recording his popular KGO radio show, Cooking with Ryan Scott.
