RYAN KOST’S OFF-THERADAR PICKS

-

Hard French:

The Hard French crew always does right by Pride and throws one of the best parties of the weekend. This year the crew is bringing in disco legend Evelyn “Champagne” King to headline the day-into-night party. The band Shopping will also perform live — plus there’s an incredible set of DJs on hand. 3-11 p.m. Sunday, June 24. $26. Mezzanine, S.F. https://mezzaninesf. com

Honey Soundsystem:

It’s never a good idea to miss Honey Soundsystem’s Pride party, but that’s especially true this year. The DJ collective has tapped Yaeji as the headliner. If you haven’t heard of her, you probably will soon — Yaeji has been burning up the internet and selling out shows for the past year. 8 p.m. Sunday, June 24. $20$30. August Hall, S.F. www.augusthallsf.com

Shopping:

This postpunk trio from London is in town to play Pride. But if you miss them at the main stage and Hard French, you’re still in luck. The band just dropped its third album, “The Official Body,” this year to solid reviews. “The trio is so refreshing and exhilarating because of the space they elbow-out for themselves and the vibrant spirit they pump into the exhausted genre,” wrote one reviewer for Pitchfork. 7 p.m., Monday, June 25. $12 to $15. Starline Social Club, Oakland. https://shop pingfc.bandcamp.com

Green Velvet: Curtis Jones, better known as

Green Velvet, has been making house and techno music since 1991. He’s a legend in the scene, and his sound always winds up setting the pace for other producers and DJs. If you haven’t heard of him, check out “Genedefekt” and “La La Land” —
