John Broucaret died peacefully at the age of 80, on May 11, surrounded throughout his brief illness by his loving family and friends. His beloved wife was there by his side. Born and raised in San Francisco to the late Ida Josephine and August Broucaret, he is survived by his loving, older brother, August. As a proud alumni of Lowell High School, John served his country first, as an Army Medic followed by years in the Army Reserve.

John and Paula, his wife of fifty years, had two devoted children together, Lisa and Matthew. He was blessed with four adoring grandchildren, Dwain Jr., Peaches, Jack and Chase, and one great-granddaughter, Georgie.

John primarily made his living in San Francisco in the moving business. During the last decade of his career, he was faithfully accompanied on all jobs by his hunting partner, Czar.

John was consistently working on the next project. He passionately enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, restoring old cars, hunting and, in the earlier years, cruising (both in cars and on ships). From 1981 to 2013, John attended nearly every home 49er game with his wife and son.

A fiercely loyal friend and family man, John will be forever remembered as a loving father and grandfather, thoughtful husband and generous friend. He was a tenacious problem solver whom many people called upon for help. He was an entertaining storyteller and could talk to anyone about anything, turning strangers into friends everywhere he went. His absence in this world is felt far and deep. He lived the life he loved and will remain one of a kind. This weekend would have been John’s 81st birthday.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 11, 11:00am at the Elks Lodge in South San Francisco.
