Patricia Tracy Nagle
May 31, 1935 - July 17, 2018
Patricia Tracy Nagle died peacefully on July 17, 2018. She left this world with grace and dignity, very much the same way she lived her life.
Born on May 31, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas, Patricia was the youngest of four children. Raised by her single mother, Rosella Tracy, Patricia would credit her resilience, work ethic and determined sprit to her strong mother and role model. A gifted student, baton twirler, and clarinet player, she was the valedictorian of South San Antonio High School. She was honored to attend the University of Texas’s prestigious Plan II Honors Program, where she graduated with a liberal arts degree.
Patricia moved to San Francisco in 1957 following her graduation. After working for the Navy Military Sea Transportation Service for five years, she worked as a receptionist for the prominent attorney Melvin Belli. Patricia loved life in San Francisco. Her three children were born and raised in San Francisco and she delighted in being a stay at home mom with them for many years.
Patricia became the auction coordinator at Butterfield and Butterfield in 1980 and began working for the Bernard Osher Foundation in 1982, a position she held for 25 years. Patricia become Bernard Osher’s full time executive assistant in 2007. She loved being involved in the world of San Francisco philanthropy and enjoyed connecting with arts, education, and social services organizations. Her job brought her great personal satisfaction. Patricia was lucky to work in the beautiful Ferry Building for the last fifteen years and loved her office with a view of the San Francisco Bay.
Patricia is survived by her beloved children, Taylor Nagle (Jennifer Nagle), Tracy Nagle Carlson (Timothy Carlson) and Stephen Nagle. She also leaves behind four adoring grandchildren (Nicholas, Emily, and Jake Carlson and Alexander Nagle). Her grandkids called her “Bobum”, a name given to her by her oldest grandson. She found renewed joy in life through her relationships with her grandchildren, loved them purely and unconditionally, and delighted in spending time with them.
We will miss her love, laughter, and steadfast loyalty. She was kind, quick witted, authentic, sometimes feisty, and always honest. Her selflessness will always be remembered, even in her final days.
A Celebration of Patricia’s life will be held on Thursday, August 23rd at 2:30 pm at the Golden Gate Club in the Presidio.
