Lauryn Kroh Benton

-

It is with great sadness that the family of Lauryn Kroh Benton announce her passing, from a long illness, on August 27, 2018 at the age of 74. Beloved wife of Everest Benton; loving mother of James (Susan) and David (April) and caring grandmother of four grandchildren: Beckett, Asher, Keats and Elle. She is also survived by her sister, Lynne Berenbroick, of Leonia, New Jersey.

She was born in Weehawken, New Jersey in 1943 to Lawrence and Evelyn Kroh. After graduating from Jersey City State College in 1968 with a Masters degree in Math Education and teaching certificate, she started teaching at Cliffside Park High School.

In 1970 she moved west to Foster City, California, purchased a Firebird and officially became a “California Girl”. She began teaching at Carlmont High School in Belmont. For over 30 years she taught at Terra Nova High School in Pacifica until her retirement in 2006. Lauryn was a kind and loving teacher who was remembered fondly by students and colleagues alike.

She has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame for nearly 30 years and leaves behind numerous dear friends made during bible studies, committee meetings, and while holding babies in the nursery. We would like to thank the caregivers at Sunrise of Burlingame for their nurturing care and friendship, as well as the staff at Mission Hospice for their loving attention in her final days.

A memorial service will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame, 1500 Easton Drive, Burlingame, California.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame or the Terra Nova High School Education Foundation.
