Willis A Casey passed away on September 13, 2018 after a 9 month struggle with cancer. Born in San Francisco on December 13, 1937 to Willis and Jane (Casteret) Casey. He graduated from Riordan High School in 1955. He went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of San Francisco in 1959. After serving active duty in the US Army for two years, he joined the San Francisco Police Department for a successful 30 year career. During his years in the SFPD he earned his Master’s Degree in Government from the University of San Francisco. Will was appointed Chief of Police by Mayor Art Agnos in November 1990. He retired from the department in 1992. After his retirement he went on to have a second and third career serving the citizens of Pittsburg, Ca. He was appointed Police Chief of the Pittsburg Police Department. After serving for several years as the Police Chief, Will was hired as city manager of the city of Pittsburg. He then was elected to the Pittsburg City Council where he served two terms as Mayor. He retired from the city council in November 2017. Will devoted almost 60 years of his life to serving the public. On November 21, 1959, Will married Patricia M. Dwyer. They were happily married for almost 48 years until Patricia’s death in 2007. Will lost his eldest son Mark Casey (Megan) in 2014. Survived by 4 children: Sheila Casey Luskin of Sunnyvale, Lorraine Casey of San Francisco, Eileen Casey Lipp (Doug) of Lomita, CA & William (Allison) of Naperville, IL; 10 grandchild­ren: Shannon Lipp, Jacqueline Casey, Zachary Lipp, Tyler Luskin, Robert Casey, Ryan Casey, Matthew Lipp, Hannah Luskin, Andrew Casey & Emilie Casey; and sister Barbara Casey Zanette (Jack d.2004) of Millbrae, CA.

Strong leadership and strength in character and integrity defines Will’s careers but he will be most fondly remembered by family and friends for his wonderful sense of humor and warm loving nature.

Visitation Service will be held from 5-8:30pm on Thursday, Sep. 20, 2018 at Sneider & Sullivan & O’Connell’s Funeral Home in San Mateo. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, Sep. 21, 2018 at St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma. A Memorial Service in Pittsburg will be held at a later date.
