Michael Holloway King, M.D.

Passed away on September 2, 2018 in Desert Hot Springs, California at the age of 64. Michael was born on June 25, 1954 in Waynesboro, Virginia. He attended elementary and junior high school in Erie, Pennsylvan­ia and entered the Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire at the age of sixteen. Michael matriculat­ed at Harvard University in 1971 and graduated cum laude in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Romance languages, and pre-med. He entered Harvard Medical School and obtained a Doctor of Medicine in 1980, after which he completed a medical internship at Highland Hospital in Oakland, California.

Michael practiced medicine in several locations in the Bay Area with an interest and expertise in a combinatio­n of convention­al and alternativ­e medicines. He hosted health programs on radio and also in local area workshops, with an emphasis on alternativ­e medical approaches.

For the past several years, his interests and work shifted to authoring several books including Hide and Play Dead: From Memoir to Real-time Healing and Overcoming Oppression: Your Guide to a New Life, both of which focus on achieving freedom from social oppression. He additional­ly authored four anthologie­s on psychologi­cal identity. He is survived by his father, Roy J. King Sr., M.D., brother, Roy J. King Jr., M.D., Ph.D., M.Div., his nephew, Roy J. King III, his niece, Erika H. King, his grandnephe­w, Desmond J. Early King, grandniece, Ellie J. Early King, and countless friends. Memorial service pending.
