Tony “Butch” Cuneo passed away unexpectedly at age 68. He and his family have deep roots in South San Francisco, where the family owned A Cuneo Produce. Tony worked the land alongside his grandparents and father, Aldo, delivering to the City’s top restaurants while attending El Camino High School, where he played football and was a wrestler. His boyhood crush on his English Teacher, Jane Peabody, turned into a fairy tale ending 20 years later when they married. Having fulfilled his dream of having his own family with Jane and her daughter Amy, the couple traveled the world from Italy and Africa to Hong Kong and Mexico and later moved from Glen Ellen, California to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The one-time farmer and lifelong deer hunter relished their splendid adventures. When they divorced, Amy (Peabody) Ingram, her husband, Brent Ingram, and their two children, Rafe and Rhys became his world. Known as “Nonno” to his grandchildren, Tony never missed a family celebration or a school performance and was always there with a visit or a call to say he loved them. The most loving, kind, and generous soul, our beloved “Campbell Soup Kid,” will be truly missed by his family, dear friends, hunting buddies, and the morning coffee gang in North Beach.
