San Francisco Chronicle - Late Edition (Sunday) - - LIFE TRIBUTES -

Dr. Beverly Thomas passed away peacefully at her home from natural causes; thanks to the devotion of her loving husband, Richard Traxler. Beverly was 83.

Dr. Thomas was a family practice doctor for 50 years. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Wisconsin in 1961. She was one of only 6 women graduates in her class of 100. Beverly was determined to succeed even though she was told in grade school and college that she couldn’t do it.

Dr. Thomas, an intuitive, insightful, attentive professional chose family practice because she loved caring for multiple generations within a family. She maintained a solo family practice in San Mateo County for 50 years.

Beverly is remembered for her calm, compassionate and caring nature for her family, friends, patients and animals alike. Her reputation as a skilled physician is echoed throughout the community from her loyal patients who would change insurance just to keep her.

As a breast cancer survivor she was resilient, hard working and maintained her unwavering dedication to her family and practice.

Beverly is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Richard. A loving mother to three sons-their wives, daughter-husband, 12 grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
